a bit about me {lenni}

I live and work in Salt Lake City, getting my hands in the wedding industry any way that I know how. I am the shop manager and marketing manager for Lily & Iris, a bridesmaid dress boutique, as well as her sister store, Alta Moda Bridal, a couture bridal shop.

Photography is just one of my many loves, and I specialize in portraiture. I'm a little quirky, a little crazy, and just like to be myself. Read on if you want to learn more.

  • I love being on both sides of the camera, though more often than not I'm behind it.
  • I do many things to excess. If it's not worth doing a lot, it's usually not worth doing at all.
  • Two things I value very highly in life are enthusiasm and novelty. Enthusiasm about novelty... now there's my perfect emotion!
  • My husband and I have a German Shepherd named Havoc, a kitty named Neville, several fish, and a turtle.
  • I have a minor obsession with all things weddings. If I could re-marry my husband every year, including all the fanfare, I would do it.
  • I could read/listen to/watch Harry Potter all day every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it. I cannot even count how many times I've read each Harry Potter book, or seen each movie.
  • I love and am slightly addicted to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram... basically all forms of social media.
  • I love stationery, and all that entails. Pens, pencils, notepaper, letterhead, note cards, journals...
  • I have a slight addiction to candy. I can rarely refrain from eating the entire bag of Sour Patch Watermelons in one sitting. And they aren't the only candy about which I feel this way.
  • A Muppet Christmas Carol is one my favorite movies of all time. I watch it all year round--when my husband will consent to watch it with me. I can quote most of the film.
  • I love British TV. Coupling, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Midsomer Murders, and so on.
  • I am a Whovian, through and through. David Tennant (the 10th doctor) is my doctor, and I cry every time Rose loses him.
  • I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have the whole series on DVD, and I shamelessly got my husband hooked on it too.
  • In case you hadn't noticed, there is pretty much nothing better than TV on DVD, in terms of entertainment for my husband and me.
  • I have an unhealthy obsession with ellipses (...) and emoticons. I'm not sure I could write a single page without using one or the other (usually both).
  • I'm a stickler for grammar. I can't help it. Not so much the obscure grammar--like, should I hyphenate this or not--but for basic grammar definitely. Spelling, punctuation and capitalization are key.
  • I absolutely love pineapple. Fresh, canned, grilled, roasted... you name it, I can't turn it down. Except dried. Not dried.

This photo of my husband, Richard, and me (as well as the photo at the top of this page) was taken by a photographer I greatly admire and who has taught me so much, Jacque Lynn. You can see her work on her website: Jacque Lynn Photography
